Samsung pushing android 6.0 update for galaxy s6 and s6 edge

Samsung pushing android 6.0 update for galaxy s6 and s6 edge

Samsung Galaxy S6 - @wikihard

Android has always had an issue with providing timely updates, though things have improved marginally over the years. Nonetheless, many smartphone owners are left waiting for an update well after the new software is released. Today brings in a case of that with two of last year’s biggest phones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, just now receiving their update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which was released in November.

The update is rolling out to unlocked models of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge now, with further announcements regarding specific carrier updates coming soon. Samsung has also said that other Galaxy series devices will begin to receive their Marshmallow updates in the near future.

While the updates include the usual Marshmallow features, such as Doze to improve battery life, Samsung has also packed in impressive new features for Galaxy S6 edge owners. Samsung has added new Edge Screen features to the update that include things like popular contacts, most-used apps, quick task shortcuts and a set of Quick Tools, such as a compass and ruler. These are all accessible by simply swiping in from the edge of the screen with the Edge handle, a fixed tab that users can place where it’s most convenient. The Edge tab will remain on the side of the display, regardless of what app you’re using, so you can always swipe in to open it up.

Additionally, the Edge tab will have a growing list of features, as Samsung has opened it up to developers to create widgets that make it even more useful.

Even though the update has taken its time to arrive, it will at least bring in some solid features for Galaxy S6 edge users. Let us know what you think of it when you receive the update!

Nexus 6P : a fuse if you unlock the bootloader

Nexus 6P :  a fuse if you unlock the bootloader

Some developers have already received their copy of the Nexus 6 p, and discover with astonishment the presence of a QFuse. This small physical 'fuse' is unique designed to blow when the bootloader is unlocked. Notice to those who wish to engage .

Nexus 6 P

For lovers of software changes, unlock the boot-loader from a phone or a Tablet is often the first step. Sometimes it leaves marks by increment a virtual counter called eFuse. The death of this virtual fuse is then used by some manufacturers for refusing to support the unit in warranty in some countries. Many users of Samsung for example remember the famous yellow triangle at startup which notified the bootloader unlocked status. Nothing really annoying however, it is easy to remove.

On their side, Huawei and Google went further, since the Nexus 6 p embarks for his QFuse of Qualcomm, a physical fuse which rack definitively when the boot-loader is unlocked. The existence of this QFuse, discovered by Vulpix, Hardware-zone forum moderator, is confirmed by former leaks of the phone, prior to his announcement, where it is possible to see in the boot-loader the mention ' Qfuse Status: ENABLED.

A possible barrier to Android Pay
Thus, even if your phone is restored to its state of origin, the constructor could always know that if the boot-loader was unlocked one day... but the phone itself is also capable. Also, even in countries where the cancellation of the warranty for software modification is not really a danger, as in France for example, the existence of this fuse could be problematic.

For Android Pay for example, Google contact less payment service, protection could be implemented at any time in order to prevent any transaction if this fuse is not in its original state. This is however that the most pessimistic scenario, Android Pay is currently blocked by the root, and not by unlocking the boot-loader.

A method already used previously
This is not the first time that this type of protection is used. To tell the truth, the existence of the QFuse is almost as old as the system Android itself, and it notes, for example, the presence of one of them on the Motorola Atrix, released in... 2011.

Where this security is amazing, is it embarked here on the Nexus, clearly demonstrating that Google has taken the opposite of its core programme. At the launch of the Nexus One, in 2010, the range was an audience of developers, with what this means changes (including the boot-loader).

The doubt remains
For the moment, the presence of this fuse was relieved, but his exact role has not yet been clearly defined. Therefore, wait for a reaction on the part of Huawei to know if there is actually what panic or not.

HTC One M10 now its camera sensors, Top HTC phone

Slowly but surely the blogger LlabTooFeR reveals all the technical aspects of the next high-end smartphone from HTC, said Perfume or HTC One M10.

HTC One M10 now its camera sensors, Top HTC phone

It is now more or less enacted, the HTC One M10 will be not present at the MWC 2016. The next high-end smartphone from HTC, whose code name is Perfume, expected to be announced at the beginning of the month of March for a commercialization expected in next May.

The silhouette of this smartphone is taking shape day by day. At the beginning of the week was the first renderings of the camera appearing on the canvas. Followed quickly by its screen size, 5.2-inch WQHD. Today, it is both back-end and front-end photo sensors that fuitent.

And as often is @LlabTooFeR which is the source of this leak. The latter, usually of a very reliable when it comes to HTC, says that the dorsal photo sensor from Sony and reference IMX377. A sensor of 12 MP with 1.55 µm. pixels a sensor assisted autofocus laser and optical stabilization. At the front it will be a sensor of from Samsung, reference s5k4e6. A 5Mp sensor said UltraPixel, without knowing exactly the exact pixel size. HTC has obviously decided, like Samsung to abandon the race to pixels. It only will not complain.

The rest of the sheet looks relatively classical for a high-end smartphone from 2016. One speaks an 820 Snapdragon SoC, a battery of 3000 mAh with a fingerprint sensor. Answer in a month, if we are to believe the rumors.
