As we have seen in our previous test, the iPhone 6S Plus brings new compared to the iPhone 6 Plus. But what about the iPhone 6S compared to his older, hitherto a reference in the world of camera phones? That's what we'll check today. The new iPhone is a team iSight sensor of 12 megapixels, against 8 before. It features a backside illumination sensor (or BSI) in order to capture more light, but no optical image stabilization (Optical Image Stabilization OIS) like the iPhone 6S Plus.

Summary :

  • Photos outdoors
  • Indoor shots
  • Night shots

Photos outdoors

Outside and in clear weather as cover, the iPhone 6S always known to produce very impressive shots. Beyond the high definition pictures, one finds a dive (details sharpness level) greater than on the iPhone 6 when it enlarges images. The colors are still as faithful, and rendering general is now a brighter hair. Digital zoom 6S is also quite effective, and does not alter the quality of the images when the camera is properly stabilized.

Indoor shots

As for outdoor photos, the changes are not obvious at first glance, is looking into the detail and / or enlarging the image that we realize improvements. It is the same for snapshots indoors, where the iPhone 6S always comes out as well. A slightly higher contrast than before gives more depth to the color, while staying true to reality. The sharpness is still important and the device handles perfectly ambient light, whether natural or artificial.

Night shots

Although it produces very satisfactory results in very low light, the iPhone 6S requires more maintenance than the more 6S during shooting. Indeed, the lack of optical image stabilization can be felt especially during night shots. Although the overall image quality is not affected (thank you to BSI sensor), the lack of OIS can cause motion blur and / or electronic noise when shooting one-handed example. For the rest, the subjects are clearly visible, as we have seen with the 6S Plus. The dive also remains impressive for such light conditions.
